Basic Character Generation
Begin with 100 Expertise Points (XP). All skills begin at 30, plus or minus racial, background or other starting modifiers. You may remove up to 30 points from any of your starting “averageness” in skills to use those XP elsewhere, but this may only be done at character creation.
Adding to a Base Skill is a one-to-one XP cost until Rank 80, after which it costs 2 points until Rank 100, which is unique and costs 10 points to obtain.
Reducing or increasing the Variance Die of a skill by one costs 2 points. Reducing Variance from one die to zero is unique and costs 10 points (6d10 is the maximum variance but does not have a special cost).
Specializing in a skill costs 3 points. (See How Skills Look and Work)
